1199SEIU ENDORSES RILEY FOR CONGRESS

ITHACA, N.Y. – Today, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, representing more than 40,000 health care employees across Upstate New York and the Hudson Valley, endorsed Josh Riley for Congress in New York’s 19th Congressional District.

“The current Congress in Washington, DC has been in disarray—meanwhile, here in New York we are seeing massive funding cuts to our healthcare institutions,” said Maurice Brown, 1199 Political Action Director, Hudson Valley/Capital Region. “That’s why it’s more important than ever to elect leaders like Josh Riley, who will protect healthcare funding, and stand up to the Washington politicians who are clearly out of touch with what’s really going on.”

“Across upstate New York, healthcare workers are too often overworked and underpaid, while insurance companies and special interests make record profits. It’s a broken system that has to change,” said Riley. “I’m honored to be in the fight with 1199 SEIU to boost wages, strengthen worker protections, and ensure our caregivers get the respect they deserve.”
