ICYMI: Josh Riley Holds Press Conference to Call Out Washington for Refusing to Address the Border

Ithaca, NY – Today, New York 19th Congressional District Democratic nominee Josh Riley held a press conference in Endicott to call out Washington politicians, including Joe Biden and Marc Molinaro, for failing Upstate New York families by refusing to work across party lines to address the crisis at our border. 

Just this week, communities in Upstate New York felt the impact of the crisis directly when news broke that tragic crimes occurred in Albany and Syracuse involving individuals recently apprehended by immigration officials at the Southern Border. During the press conference, Josh repeated his years-long demand for Democrats and Republicans to get serious about solving the issue once and for all and laid out his plan for how he’d work to fix the border in Congress. 

“The truth is that the Southern Border is an absolute disaster; our immigration system is completely broken; and Joe Biden, Marc Molinaro, and Career Politicians in Washington are failing us by refusing to fix it. We’re seeing the consequences of their failure here in Upstate New York. As the father of two little kids, stories like these are heartbreaking–and they’re infuriating.

“For months, I’ve been calling on politicians from both parties – Joe Biden, Marc Molinaro, and Democrats and Republicans at every level – to get serious about solving the crisis at the border. Marc Molinaro rejected a bipartisan border deal because he thinks that exploiting the border crisis will help him save his 30-year political career, even if that jeopardizes the safety of our kids and our communities. It’s everything that’s wrong with Washington, and it’s exactly why I’m running to change things.”
